Children
Richmond Family Therapy welcomes children, as young as 4, for therapy. Communication and therapy with children is typically achieved through play, art, and sand tray therapy. Some older, children could also benefit from talk therapy. Each child is different and session are tailored to best meet their needs. Child therapy is child-directed, and provides children with a place where they can express themselves in a non-judgmental and permissive environment.

Adolescents
Adolescence is a challenging time, often marked by academic stress, social pressures, identity exploration, and family conflict. For teens with existing mental health concerns, this phase can feel especially overwhelming.

Therapy provides a safe, trusting space where teens can express themselves freely. We balance compassion with accountability, helping them feel heard while also addressing serious concerns.
Approaches may include talk therapy, CBT, art, journaling, emotional expression, and skill-building for coping and social interaction.

Adults

Families
Keeping a healthy, positive, balanced family can take work. Communication is a big component to this, and family therapy is a safe place for everyone to come in a talk about what is going on and find practice solutions and resolutions.

Family therapy typically involves a conversation between family members and therapist offering clarifications, light suggestions, and support during this process.
